To be honest, I really don't use AEP very much at all. From my limited experience, it's not nearly as powerful as a preset. Using a Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw preset provides a great starting point. And from there it allows you to tweak using the full power of those programs. For example all the normal sliders (exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, etc.) as well as the more advanced stuff like all the Curves (RGB, red, green, blue), HSL, Split Toning, etc. I don't believe you get that much control in Analog Efex Pro.

But, I could be wrong. Like I said, I really don't use it much.
