Edit Xcom Save Files

Yeah they are not easy to use by themselves, so sorry in advance. The json versions were just a proof of concept to ensure it works but I never had time to go write a full-fledged GUI for it. Maybe some day I'll actually finish the gui part but don't hold your breath, I hate designing UIs:) Just drop a save file onto xcom2json and it'll create a.json file. You can edit this with a text editor like notepad.

Feb 7, 2016 - You could load the save game you want to name, then resave with a the new name and delete the one you just loaded. XCOM 2: Terror from the Deep, the sequel to XCOM: UFO Defence was released by MicroPose in 1995. The game came on either on several 3.5' floppy disks or a single CD and ran in DOS.

The format of the file is basically a raw dump of the save, so you'll need to search for whatever it is you want to change. You can search for a soldier name to find the soldier entry, and from there all the other values you can change. The trouble is, most of the interesting stuff other than strings like names use raw numbers to represent them.

So you can pretty easily change things that really are just numbers (e.g. Change a soldier's stats or their XP) but changing their country means you need to know what the number code is for the country you want to use. Modifying your HQ inventory is particularly a pain in the butt, because you need to find the right entry in a big list of raw numbers to change the count for that item. Anyway, if you manage to find the things you want to change, make the changes and save the file, then drop the.json file onto json2xcom and it'll make a replacement file. If you use the drag-n-drop it'll give it a weird name, which is actually just a bug. Just rename it to a regular save name 'saveXXXX' and you can load it up.

Again thanks a lot!!! But I'm still having a problem even though You explained perfectly. As You said I tried to drop a 'save file' onto 'xcom2json.cpp' but I couldn't drop it onto 'xcom2json.cpp'. I just dragged it onto xcom2json.cpp but my computer just tried to copy save file into xcomsave-master folder. Is there any program should I have to install before dropping a save file onto xcom2json.cpp?? I also tried to drop xcom2json.exe(what FortTell linked) but it didn't make any.json file too. I'm really sorry to bother you but could You tell me more specifically?

Make sure the save file is in the same folder as the.exe file when you drop it over. The drag and drop is just a quick hack, they're just command line tools but if you aren't familiar with using the command line this way is simpler. The command window spawning and immediately disappearing is how it should work. Hopefully you won't be too disappointed when you finally get it to work, because the things you want to change in the OP are kind of awkward to do with this tool because of the magic number thing I mentioned earlier. Finding the right values to plug in for particular items or country codes is non-trivial. Try running it from the command line, which is how it was really designed to be used.

Put the save file and the.exe files in your documents folder to make things simpler, then do this, omitting the quotes around all the following: Hit Win-R and enter 'cmd' in the box and hit enter to open a command prompt. In that window type 'cd%userprofile% documents' (including the%s but not the quotes) and hit enter.

Then type 'xcom2json saveXXXX' where saveXXXX is the name of your save file and hit enter. If all goes well it should print nothing and then a.json file should be there. If anything goes wrong it'll print an error message. After modifying the file use 'json2xcom saveXXXX.json -o saveYYYY' which will create a file called saveYYYY (it could be the same as your input file name if you want). Description Simply put, this is one of the best editors out there. It allows you to edit a ton of features in a slick user interface. It now detects your game version automatically and is also capable of editing both EU and TFTD stats. I talked to Jenny myself about this. If you are using the steam version of the game it comes with both the DOS AND the CE versions of the game. For whatever reason, with both of these in there you need to take out three CE files and just put them somewhere else. Ford service manual pdf. You'll know if you have these because Jenny's editor will tell you CE version of the game detected or DOS 1.4 version detected.

Once you pull those three CE files out, it will only tell you DOS 1.4 detected. This is a direct quote from Jenny herself (Thanks girlie!) Quote. Ok, I was trying to edit the stats of the UFO's to make them tougher to shoot down. Once I noticed this wasn't waorking I tried to alter a few other things such as cost prices etc, none of which saved either.

The only thing that does save is the amount of scientists/engineers and money I can allocate to the base. Nothing else works. Yeah, looks like the editor is messed up somehow. I'll contact Jenny tomorrow to see if she can take a look at it and maybe troubleshoot what is wrong. Just to be clear, it did work at one time because I helped play test it for her.
